The UK Government has confirmed a temporary pause of import tariffs on 89 ‘everyday’ and seasonal products, effective from 27th April 2025. The suspension will remain in place until July 2027.

Products Included

The suspension applies to a wide range of goods, including:

  • Pasta
  • Fruit juices
  • Coconut oil
  • Pine Nuts
  • Spices
  • Plywood
  • Plastics
  • Gardening products

This measure is intended to reduce the cost of importing specific goods, with the aim of supporting supply chain operations across multiple sectors.

The Department for Business and Trade, says the change will reduce import costs for UK businesses by an estimated £17 million per year.

Business and Trade Secretary Jonathan Reynolds said:

Free and open trade grows economies, lowers prices and helps businesses to sell to the world, which is why we’re cutting tariffs on a range of products.  From food to furniture, this will reduce the cost of everyday items for businesses, with savings hopefully passed onto consumers.  As we face a new era of global trade, this government is going further faster to make Britain the best country to do business, delivering on our Plan for Change.  These suspensions are just another example of that”.
