Port of Felixstowe Announces New Traffic Flow Changes at Trinity Terminal

Port of Felixstowe

The Port of Felixstowe has confirmed that from Saturday, 1st November at 07:00, new traffic and operational procedures will come into effect at Trinity Terminal. These changes are designed to improve safety and streamline container movements. There are no changes to Landguard Terminal.

Key Changes Hauliers Need to Know

  • New traffic flow rules across Blocks 1–9 (including Walton)

Hauliers will no longer be permitted to drive against the normal traffic flow within any Trinity Terminal block. From 1st November, all drivers must enter each block from the top.

The only exception applies to refrigerated containers, where the gantry layout requires bottom-entry to safely position the unit.

If a driver arrives and finds the container doors facing the wrong way, they will need to proceed to the new re-seat and spin area.

  • New Dedicated Re-seat and Container Spin Area (BT3)

A new facility in Zone BT3 is being introduced to help hauliers safely turn or re-seat containers when required. This will include:

  • A dedicated area handling one haulier at a time for safe, controlled operations
  • Support from an on-site supervisor to coordinate and manage movements
  • A marked haulier bay for twist-lock adjustments, if needed
  • A requirement for drivers to remain in their cab, unless using the twist-lock bay

BT3 will follow standard Port operating hours, closing at 15:00 on Saturdays and re-opening at 11:00 on Sundays.

The Port has shared detailed diagrams showing the new layout and traffic flow for BT3. Hauliers are encouraged to review these before arriving on-site.
