This International Day of Charity, we’re proud to support Transaid, an organisation transforming lives across sub-Saharan Africa through safe, available, and sustainable transport.
Transport is more than movement – it’s a lifeline. It means communities can access life-saving healthcare, roads become safer for everyone, and professional drivers have the training they need to keep supply chains running.
On East Africa’s Northern Corridor, where road crashes have soared, Transaid’s Madereva Zaidi Salama project is saving lives. With support from partners, Transaid has provided 2,000+ eye tests to long-distance truck drivers in Kenya, with 700 pairs of glasses distributed.
Fani Evans is a long-distance truck driver who received glasses after a free eye test. Fani says: “I always held the newspaper far in front of me. So, I can’t read the documentation that goes with the cargo (…) Now with these glasses, I can check the documents myself. That has more security.”
