Multiple unions in France, including CGT, FSU and Solidaires, have called for a nationwide strike on Tuesday, 2 December 2025. These groups represent workers across the civil service, rail transport and education sectors.
The action forms part of a wider mobilisation against proposed austerity measures currently being debated in the National Assembly. Unions are calling for higher wages and are urging the government to revise the draft legislation, which they say contains “serious regressions.”
Impact on Freight
At this stage, it is unclear whether the maritime sector will participate. Ports and ferry operations may or may not be directly involved, and no confirmed walkouts have been announced. However, rail freight is expected to face disruption, as rail workers are among the groups most likely to take part.
Road transport may also experience slower movement if demonstrations lead to congestion or restricted access in major cities. We will be monitoring the situation closely and will update affected customers directly if their shipments are impacted.
Please note: Information accurate as of 26 November 2025. Strike details and sector participation may change at short notice. Please check official French announcements for the latest updates.
